Post-SDCC wrap-up: X-Men
The cover for WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN also came out last week, at least in a mostly blacked-out form. I've enjoyed reading all the speculation online about who's who here. Nobody's even come close to guessing everybody. Nor can they, as a couple of these characters are brand new. I'll also add that this isn't the entire cast of the series. Not even close.
It was also revealed that Ron Garney is rejoining me on WOLVERINE for another arc, this one titled "Goodbye, Chinatown," and guest-starring Gorilla Man, Fat Cobra and some crazy Kung Fu villains, including a few holdovers from my WOLVERINE: MANIFEST DESTINY mini-series.

Enter: Lord Deathstrike
Making his debut in WOLVERINE #9. Also, the final showdown between Logan and Mystique?

WOLVERINE
CBR has an exclusive preview of ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE #5 as well as a preview of WOLVERINE #7. Both are due in stores next month and both are, as you can see, awfully pretty to look at.
More WOLVERINE talk
New WOLVIE interview at Newsarama. And here are Jae Lee's covers for the upcoming "Wolverine vs. The X-Men" arc, running in issues #6-8.

WOLVERINE plans
I talk upcoming WOLVERINE plans over at CBR.
Also, WOLVERINE #5.1 came out this week, which is a stand-alone, new-reader friendly tale about Logan's birthday, guest-starring about half of the Marvel U. I'm pretty proud of how it turned, including the awesome art from my former BLACK PANTHER collaborator Jefte Palo. If you've never read any of my WOLVERINE work before but are up for giving it a try, this would be the issue to check out.
Did I mention that Deadpool sings karaoke?

Daniel Acuna draws pretty
Pages from WOLVERINE #6 drawn by Daniel Acuna. This is the first installment in the three-part "Wolverine vs. The X-Men" storyline which features loads of guest stars, all trying to either kill Wolverine or somehow save him. Mostly ust kill him. It also takes a very literal look into the darkest (and sometimes sexiest and sometimes strangest) corners of Logan's mind. Look for it February 16 wherever it is you might go to look for such things.
The coming of... THE MONGRELS!
WOLVERINE #4 is out this week. The back-up (drawn by British wunderkind and sadomasochism aficionado Jamie McKelvie) features our first extended look at new villains The Mongrels (original character designs by Renado Guedes seen here). The Mongrels first appeared briefly in WOLVERINE #1, but in the coming months they'll play the proverbial BIG BIG role in Wolvie's life. Assuming, you know, Wolvie survives being in hell and all.
Did I mention they feature a guy named Cannonfoot? 'Cause they kinda do.

Jason + Jason + Wolverine = Oh hell, not again
Hillbilly bon vivant Jason Latour, who drew the Silver Samurai back-up in WOLVERINE #1 as well as the most recent issue of SCALPED, is now drawing the back-up for WOLVERINE #5, the final chapter in the story of "Wolverine Goes to Hell." It's a fiery little tale that shows how poor ole' Logan got sent to Hell in the first place. So fire up the Sabbath and get your metal hands ready.
WOLVERINE #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOLVERINE #1 is out this week, in which I send everyone's favorite Canucklehead to the depths of hell. Welcome to the Heroic Age, friends!
This is me talking WOLVERINE to USA Today
This is me taking questions on CBR's X-Position
And this is me encouraging you again to go buy WOLVERINE #1! It's the start of a lot of very big plans I have for Logan, things that will forever change his world and the cast of folks he has around him. If for no other reason, you should check it out just for the amazing art of both Renato Guedes and Jason Latour.
Coming up next, Wolverine vs. the devil! The return of Sabretooth! The Ghost Riders get involved! And the reappearance of the Marvel U's most badass midget!
Shameless Plug of the Day: Preview of WOLVERINE #1
Renato Guedes blew this issue out of the water!

Thinkin' on WOLVERINE
WOLVERINE: WEAPON X #5 is out today, which wraps up the first arc with explosions and sharks, and of course more laser claws and stabbity stab stab. There are big plans afoot for the ole Canucklehead, and this arc was just the beginning, laying the groundwork for what I hope will be the next few years worth of Wolverine stories. My first job in comics came in the pages of WOLVERINE, so me and the hairy little bastard go way back. I've written him several times over the last few years, from "Get Mystique" and "The Man In The Pit" to a kung fu mini-series and a barroom team-up with Spider-Man. And I've still got plenty of stories left to tell. In the book's second arc, kicking off in issue #6, look for guest appearances by Nightcrawler and Psylocke, as well as the introduction of crazy new villains like Dr. Rot, Nurse Fester, The Biter, Charlie Chainsaws and an oddball pair named Helter and Skelter. After that, make way for Captain America and the return of a certain killer cyborg from the future. And don't forget The Thing. I'm dying to do the story with Wolvie and The Thing. And beyond that... well, then things are gonna get REALLY crazy. You've been warned.
